  • You can now go to www.laclerksportal.org and search mortgage and conveyance indices of all participating parishes at no charge. If you find a record that you would like to access, the portal will connect you to the website of that specific Clerk of Court.
  • In accordance with Act 173 of the 2017 Regular Legislative Session, changes to recording fees will become effective on August 1, 2017. Click on the Fees link to access the new fee schedule.

Civil Processing Department
The Civil Department is divided into two sections:

Civil Processing Department– files all Civil Suits, including Probate (Succession) petitions, various pleadings and issues notices.  This department also issue subpoenas for Civil trials and hearings. They also input the trials, rules, and all other hearings onto the Civil Court calendar.

The Civil Processing Department is responsible for the filing of all Civil suits, Adoptions, Successions and all related matters. This includes the proper recording of the costs associated with any filings.  The Civil Processing Department files all pleadings, documents, exhibits, and endorses thereon the date of filing. 
The Civil Processing Department issues citations, writs, subpoenas, and other processes of the
Court.  They collect, in accordance with R.S. 13:842, advance payment from the plaintiff for the anticipated costs the Clerk will have in the initial handling and processing of the pleading.
Our office must also collect all accrued costs from the party incurring the additional costs in accordance with R.S. 13:843, including, but not limited to, costs of a jury trial, the costs of taking depositions, and expert witness fees.
The Terrebonne Parish Clerk of Court operates several different machines capable of sending and receiving faxes. Our fax machines are operational from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday except for legal holidays.

In accordance with La. R.S. 13:850, the Civil Processing Dept. does accept fax filings in Civil matters. The filing will have no force and effect unless the following is complied with by the filing party as set out in La R.S. 13:850 (A), (B) and (C).
Louisiana R. S. 13:850 (A), (B) and (C) have been amended by Act. no. 109 of the 2016 Regular Session and go into effect August 1, 2016.  The fax filing must be identical to the original document filed, including attachments, exhibits, and orders. 
  • The filing party forwards the original of the pleading within seven days, exclusive of holidays, after the fax filing is transmitted.
  • The filing party pays the fax transmission fee and all filing fees.
NOTE: No Civil pleadings will be filed or service perfected without the proper advance deposit.
To receive certified copies of judgments, all outstanding court costs must be paid. Total court
costs must be paid before a suit is dismissed.
