*Due to the re-rescheduling of the disinfecting of the courthouse, our office will close at 3:00 p.m. on every Friday beginning this Friday, June 26, and continuing until further notice. This includes all off-site locations also. Our hours on Monday through Thursday remain the same at 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

The Friday disinfecting schedule could change at the last minute. If this should happen our office will remain open until 4:30 p.m.

If you need to come into the Clerk’s office on a Friday afternoon after 3:00 p.m., please call first to make sure we are open.


*Our office will continue to issue marriage licenses and birth certificates by appointment only Monday thru Friday.  Please call 985-873-8376 for more information or to make an appointment.


*Our office can no longer accept appointments for passport applications effective March 18, 2020.  Once we have been notified that we can resume issuance, that information will be posted to this site. You can go to www.travel.state.gov for more information.


*All jurors who have been notified to appear for the week of July 13, 2020 through July 17, 2020, in Division "A" ONLY, are dismissed from jury service.

Applications for employment may be filled out in person at the Clerk of Court’s Office located at 7856 Main St., Houma, LA, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 o’clock p.m., Monday thru Friday.

Applications must be filled out in person at our office. No applications may be taken out of the office to be completed.


It is the policy of the Clerk of Court that all employees be able to enjoy a work atmosphere free from all forms of inappropriate or illegal discrimination and harassment, including discrimination or harassment on the basis of sex, race, color, religion, national origin, age or physical or mental disability.

Harassment infringes on an employee’s right to a comfortable work environment, and is a form of misconduct that undermines the integrity of the employment relationship.  No employee – male or female – should be subjected to any form or harassment, either verbal or physical.  All employees are responsible for ensuring that the work atmosphere is free from all forms of harassment.  Failure to report a violation of this policy, whether it involves the employee directly or not, may itself be considered a violation of the policy.

This policy prohibits any and all forms of harassment including verbal abuse, physical contact, graphic images, subjecting a person to ridicule or embarrassment because of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, or disability or creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive working environment based on gender stereotyping, race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, or disability.

The verbal abuse by an employee towards another employee, a customer, or the Clerk of Court is a form of harassment and is grounds for immediate termination.

The threat of physical contact, either verbally or by the use of threatening body language by an employee towards another employee, a customer, or the Clerk of Court, is a form of harassment and is grounds for immediate dismissal.

Sexual Harassment:  Sexual harassment is a form of harassment covered by this policy and refers to verbal or physical conduct which is offensive and unwelcome to the individual when:  (1) submission to such conduct is made either explicitly or implicitly a term or condition of an individual’s employment;  (2) submission or rejection of such conduct by an individual is used as the basis for employment decisions affecting such individual; or  (3) such conduct has the effect of unreasonably interfering with an individual’s work performance or creating an intimidating, hostile or offensive work environment.

Because of the Clerk of Court’s strong disapproval of offensive or inappropriate sexual behavior at work, all employees must avoid any action or conduct which could be viewed as sexual harassment.  Such action or conduct would include sexual advances, such as touching, hugging or patting; request for sexual acts or favors; or other verbal or physical conduct of a harassing nature, such as sexually oriented jokes or language, or sexually explicit posters or cartoons in the workplace.

Any employee who has a complaint of harassment, including sexual harassment, at work or involving work-related matters, or who witnesses conduct of a harassing nature against another employee involving anyone, including supervisors, co-workers, clients, or third parties, must bring the problem to the immediate attention of the Clerk of Court, Chief Deputy, or his/her Supervisor.  All complaints of harassment will be dealt with promptly.

To the extent possible, harassment complaints will be handled in a discreet and confidential manner in order to protect the privacy of both the charging party and the person accused.  The Clerk of Court will not tolerate prejudicial action, harassment or retaliation against any employee, whether male or female, for having filed such a complaint, while recognizing that accused persons have the right to defend themselves and to present their side of the story and give testimony without fear of reprisal.

The Clerk of Court will retain confidential documentation of all allegations and investigations and will take appropriate corrective action, including disciplinary measures, to remedy all violations of this policy.
