The classes for Commissioner certification/re-certification originally set for September 15, 2020, have been rescheduled for:
Thursday, October 1, 2020 @ 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. at the Houma Municipal Auditorium, 880 Verrett St.
Also, as a reminder, the mandatory pre-election course of instruction for ALL Commissioners in Charge/Commissioners and new Commissioners currently set for October 28, 2020 at the Municipal Auditorium remains. However, the times have changed to 2:00 p.m. (instead of 3:30 p.m.) and 6:00 p.m.

Commencing September 14, 2020, payment by credit card over the phone will be accepted for payments on account, for copies, and other services. We cannot accept credit card payments for marriage licenses, birth certificates, or passports. Please call our office @ 985-868-5660 if you need further information.

The Indexing Department is located in the basement of the Clerk of Court’s Office.

The Indexing Department is responsible for the indexing of all documents recorded in the Clerk of Court’s Office, including all Conveyance, Mortgage, and other miscellaneous documents.
All original documents are sent to the Indexing Department where they are checked for accuracy and indexed. The documents are then sent to the Map Department for binding.
The Indexing Department is also responsible for maintaining and keeping current the printed Indicies for public viewing.
