THE MARRIAGE LICENSE DEPARTMENT IS LOCATED AT 310 CHURCH ST.
Pursuant to applicable Louisiana Statutes, (LA RS 9: 221- 9:276) applicants for a Marriage License must meet the following requirements:

YOU MUST APPEAR AT OUR OFFICE WITH THE PROPER DOCUMENTS (SEE ABOVE) WITHIN 10 DAYS OF SUBMIMTTING YOUR APPLICATION. WHEN FILLING OUT THE APPLICATION, PLEASE USE FOUR (4) ZERO’S AFTER YOUR ZIP CODE IF YOU DO NOT KNOW YOUR PLUS 4 DIGIT ZIP CODE.

The Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals/Vital Records and Statistics dept. will not accept the digital LA wallet as a proper form of identification when applying for a marriage license, birth certificate or death certificate. You MUST have a valid hard copy of your driver’s license for any of these services.
Note: All marriage licenses must be returned to the Clerk of Court’s Office within thirty (30) days of issuance.
*A marriage license expires and becomes invalid at midnight thirty (30) days from the date of issuance. If the service is postponed you must turn in the old license and purchase a new one.
To apply for a marriage license under the Covenant Marriage Act, the couple must comply with all requirements as stated above for a Marriage License. In addition, the couple must receive premarital counseling from clergy of any religious sect or from a professional marriage counselor, which counseling includes:
